Aromatherapy Massage

An indulgent massage experience with essential oils to engage the senses.

Certified & trusted practitioners, all screened in person

Aromatherapy has been used for over 5,000 years by many different cultures for relaxation, beauty care, home cleaning and most often used as natural medicine. Incorporating aromatherapy into a massage, whether through the inclusion of essential oils, a diffuser, incense or candles, can elevate your overall massage experience by engaging the sense of smell.

Aromatherapy most commonly uses essential oils like lavender, frankincense, orange, peppermint, sandalwood and rose. Our sense of smell and the fragrances around us have a profound yet often unconscious effect on our mood. They can relax us, make us feel warm and happy, reawaken nostalgic memories, and transport us to a new, relaxing realm entirely.

Aromatherapy is a favorite add-on to massage therapy.

Got Few Questions?

Aromatherapy is a holistic healing therapy that uses the sense of smell to calm, soothe, energies and balance the body. Aromatherapy can incorporate a variety of different aromatic mediums, but most commonly uses essential oils. Aromatherapy massage is implementing this practice into a massage routine. You aromatherapy session could use a blended aromatic massage oil, or a towel scented with oil for you to inhale during your massage. It elevates the overall massage experience by engaging the senses, transporting you to a place of ultimate relaxation.

Some of the most common essential oils used in an aromatherapy massage are lavender, peppermint, lemongrass, orange, frankincense, rosemary and tea tree.

Incorporating aromatherapy into your massages maximizes your relaxation, minimizes stress levels, and creates a more complete full body massage experience. Some benefits of essential oils include:

  • Improves sleep
  • Aids concentration.
  • Fights cold and flu symptoms
  • Soothes sore muscles
  • Heals skin conditions
  • Balances hormones
  • Detoxifies your body
  • Improve digestion

You can add aromatherapy to any of our regular massage styles to customize your massage experience and maximize your relief. Different essential oils will have different properties and effects. Your massage therapist will tailor your aromatherapy session to your needs and massage style.

An aromatherapy massage is great for anyone struggling with stress, anxiety or insomnia. It is also great for muscular relief, boosting immunity and healing.

As with all physical therapies, you should always consult your health care professional prior to booking a massage. Regarding aromatherapy, you must consult your doctor if you are pregnant, hypoglycemic, asthmatic, epileptic, experience any other adverse health conditions or have recently undergone surgery.

You should not get an aromatherapy massage if you have open wounds or experience allergic reactions.

Provided you do not experience any adverse health conditions, such as allergic reactions or asthma, the risks during an aromatherapy massage are very minimal; it is just a regular massage with the addition of fragrances.

Essential oils can be applied in three ways: topically, aromatically and ingested. We do not recommend ingesting any essential oil as this can have adverse effects on the body. You aromatherapy massage therapist may use essential oils topically in their massage oil, or aromatically. If you have any preferences regarding application or scent, include this in the Notes section during the booking process, and talk to your therapist upon arrival.

If you have any aromatic requests, we suggest you leave these in the Notes section during the booking process to ensure we match you with a therapist who can meet your needs. Hydrate before and after your massage; dehydration impairs the body’s ability to flush away toxins. Water is key! If you’re going to eat, we recommend having something small no less than two hours prior to your massage. That’s it – your massage therapist will handle the rest.

Your therapist will always strive to make you feel as secure, safe and comfortable as possible while they are in your home. Feel free to communicate openly with them – they are a professional! You should expect your aromatherapy massage to be a pleasant, full-body experience that engages your senses. Aromatherapy is a wonderful addition to any massage and adds to the overall relaxing, restoring, energizing experience.

The effects of an aromatherapy massage are determined by the massage style and the essential oils used. You may feel relaxed, energized, mobile, limber or focused – any number of positive feelings!
